TWENTY AWARDS.

Brunswick Credit Union offers twenty (20) $1,000 Student Awards to support students who embody the values of a good citizen, including responsibility, compassion, honesty, integrity, tolerance, and cooperation.

APPLICATION DATES.

Applications for the Student Awards open Monday, March 18 and close on Friday, May 3, 2024.

WINNERS RECEIVE.

  • An award of $1,000.
  • A no-fee student banking account with Brunswick Credit Union (winners must be a current member of Brunswick Credit Union).
  • A coaching session about student finances and building good credit.

AWARDS AVAILABLE.

Twenty (20) Student Awards of $1,000 each are available for students enrolled in a post-secondary, college or university, program who meet the applicant eligibility.

  • Advance Savings Student Award (2) - $1,000
  • Bayview Student Award (2) - $1,000
  • Progressive Student Award (2) - $1,000
  • Roy-Mackin Student Award (4) - $1,000
  • E.-Carl-Jamieson Student Award (2) - $1,000
  • Ralph-V.-Burtt Student Award (2) - $1,000
  • Starr-Morin Student Award (2) - $1,000
  • Tony-Goodwin Student Award (4) - $1,000

APPLICATION ELIGIBILITY.

Students who wish to submit their application for the Student Awards must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be a current member of Brunswick Credit Union
  • Be enrolled or already attending a Canadian college, university, apprenticeship program, technical institute, or private college.
  • Not be a past recipient of an Advance Savings, Bayview or Progressive credit union scholarship or bursary

APPLICATION PROCESS.

  • Students who wish to submit an application for the Student Awards may do so online by clicking here, and completing the online application.
  • Sending a copy of their post-secondary acceptance letter or confirmation of enrollment to studentawards@brunswickcu.com.
  • Sending a copy of the post-secondary academic results or high school transcript to studentawards@brunswickcu.com.

AWARD SELECTION.

The Student Awards submissions will be reviewed by the Member & Community Relations Committee of Brunswick Credit Union. The Student Awards recipients will be notified by email around June 7, 2024, and will be announced publicly on Brunswick Credit Union’s social channels and media outlets.

Atlantic Credit Unions
Bursary Program

Atlantic credit unions offer fifty $500 bursaries, distributed to community college students in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Applications are posted to the colleges’ awards pages – links are provided below. Application deadlines vary by school, but are generally mid-October to late January.

Special consideration may be given to students who are credit union members or can demonstrate a credit union affiliation.

New Brunswick – NBCC

Credit unions of New Brunswick and the Atlantic Provinces are pleased to support students attending the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) with $4,000 in bursaries. Eight $500 bursaries will be awarded. For more information about the NBCC bursaries and to download the application, please click here.

Also, the Harry M. Daley Memorial Bursaries are provided by credit unions in New Brunswick. For information about this bursary, please click here.

Newfoundland and Labrador – CNA

Credit unions of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Atlantic Provinces are pleased to support students attending the College of the North Atlantic (CNA) with $4,000 in bursaries. Eight $500 bursaries will be awarded. 

Prince Edward Island – Holland College

Credit unions of Prince Edward Island and the Atlantic Provinces are pleased to support students attending Holland College with $4,000 in bursaries. Eight $500 bursaries will be awarded. Nova Scotia – NSCC

Credit unions of Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Provinces are pleased to support students attending the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC). Two full-time students at each of the 13 NSCC campuses will be awarded a $500 bursary, for a total of $13,000 being provided. Nova Scotia credit unions are the longest serving financial institution donor to NSCC.
